KIMBAP~~!!

Traditional fillings include seasoned vegetables, egg, meat and/or imitation crab, but these days anything goes. From Seoul to NYC, fillings range from cheesy to spicy to fresh. Kimbap is like the Korean version of a sandwich- you can change the filling to fit any diet, palate, or occasion.

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Total Time: 70 minutes

Ingredients:
Dried seaweed (nori)- 4 sheets
2 cups cooked rice
2 tsp sesame oil
2 tsp salt
TRADITIONAL FILLINGS
1 carrot, julienned
cucumber, cut into long strips
2 eggs
beef (bulgogi)
1/2 pound of spinach, parboiled
pickled radish, cut into strips
imitation crab (optional)
fishcake (optional)

ALTERNATE POPULAR FILLING SUGGESTIONS:
smoked salmon and cream cheese
kimchi and cheese
spam, mayo, and veggies
ham and cheese
tuna salad with romaine lettuce and cheese
fresh or seasoned vegetables for vegetarians

Preparation:
When rice is almost cooled, mix with sesame oil and salt.

Stir fry carrots briefly with a dash of salt.

Stir fry cucumber with a dash of salt.

Whisk eggs until evenly yellow and fry into flat omelet.

Cut cooked egg into long strips.

Cook bulgogi according to recipe directions.

Using a bamboo sushi roller or a piece of tin foil, lay the dried seaweed shiny side down.

Spread about ½ cup of rice onto 2/3 of the seaweed, leaving the top 1/3 bare (if you moisten your fingers or a spoon to pat down the rice, you'll get less of a sticky mess).

Lay the first ingredient down around 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of the seaweed.

Lay the other fillings down on top.

Roll from the bottom (as if you're rolling a sleeping bag), pressing down to make the fillings stay in.

As you continue to roll, pull the whole thing down towards the end of the bamboo mat.

Spread a tiny dab of water along the top seam to hold the roll together.

Set aside and continue with other seaweed sheets.

Cut each roll into 7-8 pieces.

Korean Egg Roll---> GAERAN MARI

Gaeran mari is a complete breakfast and an easy addition to a bento lunch or a Korean dinner. Like most Korean dishes, this recipe has many variations. You can use different vegetables, even add in some diced ham, omit the seaweed if you don’t have any, or Westernize it with the addition of some cheese, and it will still be delicious if you keep the proportions right.

Sushi Roll

Ingredients:

2/3 cup uncooked short-grain white rice

3 tbsp rice vinegar

3 tbsp white sugar

1 1/2 tsp salt

4 sheets nori seaweed sheets

1/2 cucumber , peeled, cut into small strips

2 tbsp pickled ginger (optional)

1 avocado

1/2 pound imitation crabmeat , flaked

Directions:

1) In a medium saucepan, bring 1 1/3 cups water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar and salt. Blend the mixture into the rice.

2) Preheat oven to 150 degrees C. On a medium baking sheet, heat nori in the preheated oven to 1 or 2 minutes, until warm.

3) Center one sheet nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands. Using your hands, spread a thin layer of rice on the sheet of nori, and press into a thin layer. Arrange 1/4 of the cucumber, avocado, and imitation crabmeat in a line down the center of the rice. Lift the end of the mat, and gently roll it over the ingredients, pressing gently. Roll it forward to make a complete roll. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

4) Cut each roll into 4-6 slices using a wet, sharp knife.

*Notes: Sushi can be filled with any ingredients you choose. Try smoked salmon instead of imitation crabmeat. Serve with teriyaki sauce and wasabi.*

The Day when Love does not Exist

I'm not sure what exactly happened. I once has this huge crush over this guy ---> Lee. But after grandpa's death, yes, he did came back to work as requested by Miss Choong. But then I started feeling nothing for him. It was weird. Usually when he talked to me, winked at me, teased me, made me laugh and so on...I was so happy and excited. It was like there was sparks between us. But then things started changing TOTALLY after grandpa's death. The other day when he winked at me, I don't have feelings anymore. Not even excited or crazy about it. I was thinking, is it something wrong with me? Or is it because of the deep scar J gave me?

Yes. I still felt jealous when SHE often tries to DAMPING HIM~!!!! IT REALLY GETS ON MY NERVES WHEN SHE GETS CLOSER TO HIM!!!! But then, I decided to shook it off anyway. Sometimes, I felt guys really can't be trusted. FLIRT is a must for every guys. THERE IS NO GUY THAT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FLIRT, SERIOUSLY. Every guy will learn it eventually due to their EGO. I guess that maybe after the incident, I started to have different views towards guy. Of course I'm NOT MENTIONING ALL GUYS ARE BAD! It's just that I was thinking that it's hard to let guys to be our life partner. You can say that I've lost my trust towards guys,it's okay.

Anyway, I guess single life should be okay too:)
Though there may jealousy and loneliness at times, I guess that it is part of life. I somehow felt that I was fated to be single. I'm not sure why. Maybe because of my personality and behaviour. Maybe I'll be in a relationship. But in my view on marriages, I don't know why I would object the thinking of marriage whenever someone said to me bout it. Take this as an example.Poh Juan's been telling me this evening that marrying at early age is good since when we're in our 40s,our child already in the 20s...Then they will take care of us and so on. But in my opinion, the earlier you get married, the earlier you'll divorce. No offence. This is the truth. Just look at the number of divorce cases this year. Most of them are people marrying early. Humans can sometimes get bored with their partners. Sorry for this opinion. But then, if you're not agree with this, please ignore this. Just trust your partners.Because it was just my self opinion. I was a person who is pessismistic towards marriage. So, let it be kay?

Anyway, I'm not going to talk much about why I am opposing towards the idea of marriage. I just don't want to influence others.
